The Town of Rockingham is working with the Planning Commission to update and modernize town-wide Zoning Bylaws with a specific focus on the Villages of Bellows Falls and Saxtons River.
This area has experienced a slow population decline since the 1980s. The ability to provide a variety of housing options to retain and attract workers, employers, and reverse long-term population decline is motivating this by-law update.
The goals are;
(1) to promote market-based housing in areas of the community that can support development;
(2) allow more people to use their homes for economic activity such as home occupations, home businesses, and home childcare services;
(3) Promote a Neighborhood Development Area surrounding downtown Bellows Falls.
